With school getting started here, I’m slowly easing back into my regular posting schedule. Today I’m sharing the San Francisco chapter of my California Fabric Haul videos. In it, I discuss my fabric purchases in San Francisco and Santa Cruz. When I was there, I went to Fabric Outlet (Cali Fabrics’ brick and mortar) and Fabrix. Santa Cruz, of course is home to Hart’s Fabric, which is a veritable fabric candy shop.

LA Fashion District Fabric Haul
In case you missed it last week, here’s my tips for shopping the LA Fashion District and what I bought there as well. Besides finding leather at the FIDM Scholarship store and a bevy of nice metal zippers, I came home with 5 yards of Italian pinstripe wool purchased for a song destined to become a 10th Doctor suit for my husband. No doubt, that’s a good thing given that the pattern is going to be a fortune. Plus, on Deepika‘s recommendation, I checked out The Fabric Store and found some lovely linen and Liberty in my color palette.

As I note in my Seamstress Tag video, my favorite place to go fabric shopping is on vacation. There’s only a couple of local fabric stores where I live, and they are often hard for me to get to. To combat this problem, I usually either shop online or stock up when I’m traveling. So this was a stock up trip for sure!
Do you stock up on fabrics or are you more of a shop for the project kind of sewist?
Happy fabric shopping,
